Pumptech Powers Sustainable Water Access in Wa West District Communities

Pumptech Limited, Ghana’s leading expert in solar water pumping solutions and the premier distributor of LORENTZ solar pumps, played a pivotal role in bringing reliable, clean water and irrigation to rural communities in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region.

As a key technical partner in the Sustainable Climate Resilience Action project led by Community Aid for Rural Development (CARD Ghana) and funded by GIZ REACH, Pumptech provided essential expertise and support for the installation of advanced solar-powered water systems. On December 29, 2025, these facilities were officially handed over during a commissioning ceremony, marking a significant step toward climate-resilient livelihoods.

In the community of Kanduoli, Pumptech’s technical contributions helped deliver a solar-powered mechanized borehole equipped with an overhead storage tank and two convenient water dispensing stands, ensuring residents have easy access to potable water without reliance on unreliable grid power or diesel fuels.

Meanwhile, in Siira and Dabo, Pumptech supported the deployment of solar-powered drip irrigation systems integrated with fenced vegetable gardens. These efficient systems enable year-round farming, boosting agricultural productivity and food security in areas vulnerable to climate variability.

Mr. Ramadan Osman Kantunsung, Technical Services Manager at Pumptech, emphasized the importance of community ownership during the event: “We urge the beneficiaries to maintain these facilities properly and report any issues promptly to ensure their longevity and continued benefits.”

This collaboration highlights Pumptech’s commitment to sustainable water solutions across Ghana. With branches in Wa and other regions, the company specializes in designing, supplying, and installing high-quality solar pumping systems that address the unique challenges of off-grid and rural areas. By partnering with organizations like CARD Ghana and GIZ, Pumptech continues to drive innovations that improve water access, support agriculture, and build resilience against climate change for underserved communities.

Residents of Kanduoli, Siira, and Dabo expressed profound gratitude, pledging to safeguard the systems and use them to foster local development. This project not only transforms daily life but also showcases how Pumptech’s reliable technology can create lasting impact in rural Ghana.”During the event, Mr. Ramadan Osman Kantunsung, Technical Services Manager at Pumptech, highlighted the vital role of community ownership. He encouraged beneficiaries to take proper care of the facilities and to promptly report any challenges, ensuring their durability and sustained benefits.”
