Pumptech Limited is proud to announce the successful completion of a transformative water infrastructure project in partnership with WaterAid Ghana, aimed at improving access to clean and safe water for communities in the Bongo District of Ghana’s Upper East Region.
As part of the initiative commissioned by the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), Pumptech Limited implemented a robust Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) solution designed to serve the growing needs of residents in Bongo, Gorigu, and Borigu. The comprehensive scope of work included the mechanization of two boreholes using high-efficiency GRUNDFOS electric pumps, the construction of two pump houses, the laying of approximately 11 kilometers of transmission and distribution pipelines, the supply and installation of a 50kVA transformer, and the establishment of five community standpipes to ensure equitable access to water in public spaces.
As a result of this infrastructure upgrade, daily water production in the area increased dramatically—from 20,000 litres to 116,000 litres—boosting capacity to reach more households and institutions, especially within Bongo Central and surrounding communities.
This milestone underscores Pumptech’s deep-rooted commitment to sustainable development, social impact, and innovative water solutions that address real community challenges. By integrating durable technologies and local expertise, the project reinforces the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving long-term water security.
Local authorities and stakeholders have commended the quality and timeliness of the intervention while highlighting the ongoing need for investment and collaboration to fully close the water supply gap in the district, which still faces a daily deficit of 350 cubic metres.
Pumptech Limited remains dedicated to delivering reliable and future-ready infrastructure that empowers communities and advances public health and well-being across Ghana and beyond
